How to choose the perfect frying pan?

Choosing a frying pan depends on many factors: what you cook most often, how many people are in your family, what type of stove you have. That's why there is no universal answer to the question "which frying pan is best" - but we will help you find the best one for you.

The correct shape and depth affect the quality of cooking specific dishes, so it is important to choose a model that suits your cooking style.

  • Universal frying pan— the most common option for everyday use. It has medium-height sides, suitable for frying vegetables, meat, scrambled eggs, pancakes. This is the best choice if you are looking for one pan for different dishes.
  • Pancake pan— has low sides and a completely flat bottom, which makes it easy to flip the dough. Thanks to uniform heating and a non-stick coating, it provides a thin, golden pancake without sticking.
  • WOK frying pan— has a deep, rounded shape with a thin bottom. Ideal for dishes that require quick frying at high temperatures with constant stirring. Suitable for Asian cuisine, vegetable mixes, noodles or meat with sauce.

Base material: aluminum, cast iron or steel?

The material affects heating, weight, and durability. For example, the forged aluminum we use in many Krauff series is light, strong, and an excellent conductor of heat. It heats up quickly, heats food evenly, and doesn't warp even after hundreds of uses.

Cast iron is heavier, but it retains heat well, ideal for meat. But it requires special care. Stainless steel is durable, shiny, beautiful, but without a non-stick coating, it is not convenient for everyone.

So if you're looking for something lightweight, strong, comfortable, and durable, choose aluminum with a high-quality coating — it's the best balance for a modern kitchen.

How not to make a mistake with the size?

Small, medium, or large? The diameter of the pan is always indicated on the packaging — use this information to choose the best option for your needs.

  • 20 cm - convenient for breakfasts, scrambled eggs, and frying small portions.
  • 24–26 cm is a universal size for everyday cooking.
  • 28 cm and larger is ideal if you often cook for the whole family or several guests.

It is also important to consider the height of the sides. For stewing meat or vegetables, it is better to choose a deeper model. And if you are cooking pancakes, omelets or dishes without sauce, a frying pan with low walls is suitable, which heats up faster.

How to prepare a new frying pan for use?

Even the best frying pan needs basic coating activation. So what should you do with a new frying pan? Before using it for the first time, be sure to:

  • wash it by hand with a mild detergent (no abrasives),
  • dry completely,
  • apply 2–3 drops of oil to a napkin and treat the inner surface,
  • Place over medium heat for 2–3 minutes.

This creates a primary protective barrier and extends the life of the non-stick coating. In the future, avoid overheating (do not leave an empty pan on maximum heat) and wash it only after it has cooled completely.
